Born outside São Paulo, Brazil, Professor Raphael Guidotti Carrão began his martial

arts career with Judo at just 7 years old, continuing onto Muay Thai as a teenager.

Looking to expand his martial arts knowledge, he began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in

1998 with Master Roberto Tozi, (Godoi/Macaco Team) a Brazil’s top competition team.

In 2004, he moved to Los Angeles as a Purple Belt and continued his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu education under

John, Rigan & Jean Jacques Machado where Raphael achieved his black belt at the end

of 2008 from Master Rigan Machado.

Raphael took his career and experience further in 2012 where he began a professional

MMA fight career representing the Nogueira/Black House Team, winning his first fight in

less than 2 minutes via TKO. Raphael now brings his long history of marital arts training

and multiple years of competition experience in both BJJ and MMA to the Los Angeles

community where he owns and teaches at his school in Eagle Rock, CA.

He continues to stay active both as a student and competitor!

Hector started his Jiu Jitsu journey in October 2006 under former UFC fighter Fabiano Iha and

received his blue belt from Fabiano the following year.  Hector had been a longtime MMA fan and

having studied Judo for a brief period as a teen, decided to try Jiu Jitsu. He was hooked from

the moment he started and trained 5-6 a week religiously. A major knee injury kept Hector off

the mats for a full year, but his passion for Jiu Jitsu didn't waver and he continued studying

under Jean Jacques Machado black belt Fernando Reis, who promoted him to purple belt in June

2011. After Fernando's return to Brazil in 2013, Hector has been studying under Rigan Machado

black belt Raphael Carrao and earned his brown belt in June 2015. Hector is a loyal student and

loves training with his teammates as he sees them as his Jiu Jitsu brothers. He is a lifelong

martial arts fan, having also studied Karate and Kung Fu as a kid and teenager. He was active

in the point sparring tournament circuit as well as having competed in multiple local Jiu Jitsu

tournaments as a white and blue belt. His goal is to return to the competition circuit in order

represent his Eagle Rock Jiu Jitsu family.
